Now fully accredited
as an overview assessment tool by the Department of
Health
Through close collaboration with
interRAI
, the international research organisation,
TSO has developed a new UK version of the MDS assessment
tool specifically for the implementation of SAP.
This tool has been reviewed by the accreditation
panel at the Department of Health. MDS is now
fully accredited as a tool for overview assessment as part of the Single Assessment Process
for Older People.
The
thinking behind the development of the new version of
the forms was clear. By meeting the criteria set down by
central government, the forms would not just work, but
would work hard to:
- help care managers in the field
- focus effort and support wider organisational goals
- ensure that all clients benefited from a consistent,
rigorous approach that put them at the centre of the process.
Councils
with social service responsibility (CSSRs), healthcare organisations, care
managers and the service users themselves will benefit from the forms’ close attention
to detail and way that they fit into the bigger picture.
