Best Management Practice
Best Management Practice
The Best Management Practice products present flexible, practical and effective guidance, drawn from a range of the most successful global business experiences. The products have helped improve processes and operations for small businesses, public sector organisations and major global enterprises.
Since 2007, TSO has provided Best Management Practice with a comprehensive publishing solution, successfully expanding the global reach of its best-practice portfolio and maintaining and developing Best Management Practice’s reputation for high-quality publications. This portfolio includes:
- ITIL®
- PRINCE2®
- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®)
- Management of Risk (M_o_R®)
- Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O®)
- Management of Portfolios (MoP™)
- Management of Value (MoV®)
The challenge
Best Management Practice’s methods, processes and frameworks are widely accepted across the globe as the most established and effective management disciplines. To retain and expand this market position, Best Management Practice requires all formats of its portfolio to accurately reflect the latest developments in best practice, and therefore needs a publishing partner to own and manage regular update cycles on its behalf.
The solution
TSO uses its established project management, content management, editorial and multi-format production capabilities to successfully deliver a complete refresh of Best Management Practice’s core portfolio in a range of formats that meet the users’ needs.
Beginning with a worldwide consultation and analysis of user feedback, TSO runs a change advisory board for each product, managing all change requests and, in consultation with Best Management Practice, the selection of an authoring and mentoring team.
For each refresh, TSO uses PRINCE2®, managing the creation of the content through extensive peer review, to eventual publication. To ensure that consistency of complex data is seamlessly maintained across all publication formats, TSO uses its own content management system, ActiveText™, throughout the production process.
Critical to the success of these update projects is the engagement of the user community, keeping all stakeholders involved through a range of communications, both in print and online, enabling feedback to be incorporated at all stages of the project.
Using TSO’s digital publishing technology, the refreshed core publications are produced in print, PDF, eBook and online formats and launched globally through online and print marketing communications and events. In 2009, TSO launched www.best-management-practice.tv
, a new online portal for visitors to access free multi-media resources, including educational videos, podcasts, debates and interviews.
